The Behavioral Dimensions of Change
More and more foundations have become interested in boosting the competency of selected clusters of grantees through capacity-building initiatives. By their very nature, capacity programs seek to induce better performance-and that generally means change (or more likely, CHANGE), in the thought patterns or actions of participating grantees.
Drawing on more than two decades of experience with nonprofits wrestling with change, this half-day session will present and explore with grant makers:
- The four behavioral dynamics both necessary and predictive for capacity-building efforts to "take" and have enduring impact
- The top ten reasons organizational change fails
- Tips for assessing organizational readiness for change
- Factors driving resistance to change
- The importance of habit change, rather than singular behavior changes, as a predictor of sustainable personal and organizational change
