Reactivating Mortgage Loan Originator Registrations

Did any credit union’s mortgage loan originators forget to renew their registrations between November 1 and December 31, 2011? If so, the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) released instructions on what your credit union and the affected mortgage loan originators can do to reactivate their registrations.

Credit union’s mortgage loan originators who initially registered with the NMLS prior to July 1, 2011, were required to renew their registrations between November 1 and December 31, 2011. Each mortgage loan originator should have logged into the NMLS site and renewed their registration prior to December 31, 2011, in order for their status to remain active.

NMLS has detailed instructions on what both credit unions and their mortgage loan originators must do to reactivate their registrations.
